sylvester stallone-2-820x1024Canadian writer David Morrell created the Green Beret character "John Rambo". His novel was later adapting for on screen. Stallone starred in First Blood (1982) together with Richard Crenna & Brian Dennehy. The film that wowed audiences with its controversial commentary about the Vietnam war that was unfamiliar to American minds, was an enormous success. No matter what political views this film became a worldwide smash, with a sequel following with Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) and received even greater criticism from several quarters owing to the storyline of American MIAs believed to be held in Vietnam. The film's creators insist that no bad publicity have a place. John Rambo's second film turned out to be a major revenue-maker for Stallone. It cemented his position as one of the top American male stars of the 1980s. Stallone was riding high in his popularity and fame, pleaded with Rocky Balboa, his sparring companion, to return to the arena to defend American spirit against The Soviet threat. This was an Russian boxer called Ivan Drago played by Curt Dolph Lundgren. This fourth film was a bit controversial among "Rocky" enthusiasts, due to the fact that there was an overly violent tone compared with previous "Rocky" movies, particularly in the brutal assault suffered from Apollo Creed, played by Carl Weathers, at the at the hands of the unstoppable "Siberian Express".
